wp-config.php can raise WordPress's own memory limit, but it cannot raise PHP's upload_max_filesize — that is a PHP directive, not a WordPress one. If your host locks PHP settings, no amount of wp-config editing will change the upload cap, and you will have to ask them.

Subí upload_max_filesize y no cambió nada. ¿Por qué?

Porque WordPress usa el MENOR de tres valores: upload_max_filesize, post_max_size y memory_limit. Subir uno mientras otro sigue bajo no cambia nada. post_max_size debe ser mayor que upload_max_filesize, porque el cuerpo de la petición lleva el archivo más el formulario que lo rodea.

¿Puede wp-config.php aumentar el límite de subida?

Solo en parte, y esto hace tropezar a mucha gente. wp-config.php puede subir el límite de memoria de WordPress, pero upload_max_filesize es una directiva de PHP que PHP normalmente ya ha terminado de leer para cuando WordPress carga. Si tu hosting bloquea los ajustes de PHP, por mucho que edites wp-config no cambiarás el límite.

Mi hosting no me deja editar php.ini. ¿Y ahora qué?

Prueba con un archivo .user.ini en tu raíz web: muchos hostings compartidos lo leen. Si eso también falla, el límite se aplica por encima de tu cuenta y solo tu hosting puede cambiarlo. Pídeselo; suele ser un ticket de una línea.
